Trying Some New Photographic Things

Trying some new things in regards to photography, lighting and color. This ominous photo was actually short against black velvet in my office. Typically, I would have shot this or rendered it in black and white. A little color gives it an interesting look, almost like a hand-tinted photograph.

The trick? None really, Using a 10 dollar work lamp I picked up at Home Depot. Positioning was key. Its 500 watt lamp in a sense bleaches the velvet into looking like a cement wall. Notice that the vest is still a very dark, rich black.

The ominous tone come not so much from the stance, look or pose: it is due to light being projected from the bottom, which is unnatural in most instances.

Love to you all.
